Mollie stayed in Germany over Christmas 2002.
We spent four days in Going.
Since there was no snow for skiing, we drove to Berchtesgaden to see the saltmine
one day.
First you get dressed up like a miner. Then you ride a small train into
the mountain.
From the train onto the slide, down further. And you take a boat trip across an underground salt lake.
You learn how salt is made: drill holes, fill them with dynamite, blow tunnels into the mountain.
Then insert water to dissolve the salt, pump out the saltwater, dry it, clean it,
pack it and sell it.
